About The Belnord

The Belnord located at 324 Hendrie in Detroit’s Greater Downtown neighborhood. The Belnord was originally built in 1915 and underwent a gut renovation in the mid-1990s. The occupied 24 unit building is four stories and 22,642 sf including a lower level garden floor. The Belnord was recently acquired by JacobStreet LLC.

JacobStreet LLC is a Detroit based development company founded by Ed Siegel focused on building and preserving affordable housing in existing and emerging neighborhoods in Detroit. 

The Detroit Housing for the Future Fund Investment

The DHFF provided a $2.46M construction loan to be used to finance the acquisition, moderate rehab, expansion of existing units, preservation and the addition of five units on the garden level. 

As one of the City’s targeted neighborhoods Greater Downtown has an urgent need for preservation of naturally occurring affordable housing (NOAH). The loan will enable and secure the preservation 24 units and creation of 5 additional units between 50% to 80% Area Median Income (AMI) for 14 years.
